To die in poverty is a sin. Is it true?

A friend of mine mention about dying in poverty is a sin. I was confused about what he said. He shared to me example of a family with a father as the breadwinner and wife together with their 5 children. The father didn't finished a degree but only an elementary grade level. He used to go fishing early in the morning and sometime he brings a little to his family and sometime nothing. To the next following years their children died every other year because of lack of food maintenance they provide for their family. And now out of 5 children only 1 left and surviving. So my question is; is it a sin of that father that he wasn't able to provide good nourishment to his children?
